Vanoggend wil ek net in baie basiese terme ’n oorsig gee oor die lering van die doop.

Doop in water is een van die fundamentele leerstellings van die liggaam van Christus.

Heb 6:1-2 Daarom moet ons nie bly by die begin van die prediking aangaande Christus nie, maar na die volmaaktheid voortgaan sonder om weer die fondament te lê van die bekering uit dooie werke en van die geloof in God, van die leer van die doop en van die handoplegging en van die opstanding van die dode en van die ewige oordeel.

Die lering van die doop is kontroversieel maar fundamenteel belangrik.

Dis die “basics” en ons moet dit verstaan en duidelik weet weet hoekom ons dit doen en wat dit beteken en wat gebeur tydens die gelowige doop.

Kom ons begin met ’n vraag:

Hoeveel dope is daar of liewer weet jy van?

Ons lees die eerste keer van die “Gelowige Doop” in Mat 28

Wat bedoel ek met “Gelowige Doop”?

Dit is om gedoop te word nadat jy self besef het dat jy Jesus nodig het as verlosser en Hom aangeneem het as jou saligmaker.

Onder sien ons o.a. dat die doop ’n opdrag van Jesus self is.

18 Jesus came up and said to them, “All authority (all power of absolute rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 AMP

Pad van Verlossing: Wat gebeur?

• Ek sien ’n oortuiging van sonde deur HG en besef dat ek ’n verlosser nodig het
• Ek sien ’n glo dat Jesus God is, dat Hy my lief het, dat Hy gesterf het vir my sonde skuld en opgestaan het.
• Ek sien ’n omkeer besluit (bekering) en totale oorgee aan Jesus wie se eiendom ek nou is en vir wie ek lewe.
• Ek sien die deel word van die liggaam van Jesus Christus.
• Ek sien die water doop waar ek my met Jesus se dood en opstanding vereenselwig.
• Ek sien die doping van die Heilige Gees wat my met krag toerus om die evangelie te deel en my nuut maak en op ‘n reis neem van Heiligmaking en lewe vir Christus.

• Wanneer vind dit plaas?
• Wie doop?
• Die doel van die betrokke doop?

1. Doping in die liggaam van Jesus Christus in. (In God die Vader se familie in).

13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed—united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].1Cor 12:13 AMP

• Hierdie doop vind plaas by jou wedergeboorte.
• Wie doen dit? … by one Holy Spirit
• Jy kom in die liggaam van Christus in. Daar vind ’n geestelike skuif plaas.
• ’n Geestelike realiteit vind plaas. Jou posisie verander. Ongered na gered.

2. Doop in water

35 Then Philip spoke and beginning with this Scripture he preached Jesus to him [explaining that He is the promised Messiah and the source of salvation]. 36 As they continued along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch exclaimed, “Look! Water! What forbids me from being baptized?” 37 Philip said to him, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” Acts 8:35-37 AMP

• Hierdie doop vind plaas na jou oorgawe aan Jesus.
• Wie doop hier? Filippus doop die Etiopiër. Dissipels/geesvervulde gelowiges doop met water.
• Hierdie doop is ‘n verklaring van wat jy glo.

3. Doop met die Heilige Gees

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place, 2 and suddenly a sound came from heaven like a rushing violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 There appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were being distributed [among them], and they rested on each one of them [as each person received the Holy Spirit].

…but He (the Messiah) who is coming after me is mightier [more powerful, more noble] than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to remove [even as His slave]; He will baptize you [who truly repent] with the Holy Spirit and [you who remain unrepentant] with fire (judgment). Matthew 3:11 AMP

8 But you will receive power and ability when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses [to tell people about Me] both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and Samaria, and even to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 AMP

Wat gebeur wanneer ons in water gedoop word?

1. Die doop is ’n begrafnis en ’n opstanding

6 What shall we say [to all this]? Should we continue in sin and practice sin as a habit so that [God’s gift of] grace may increase and overflow? 2 Certainly not! How can we, the very ones who died to sin, continue to live in it any longer? 3 Or are you ignorant of the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 We have therefore been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory and power of the Father, we too might walk habitually in newness of life [abandoning our old ways]. 5 For if we have become one with Him [permanently united] in the likeness of His death, we will also certainly be [one with Him and share fully] in the likeness of His resurrection. 6 We know that our old self [our human nature without the Holy Spirit] was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin. 7 For the person who has died [with Christ] has been freed from [the power of] sin.

2. Die doop is ’n besnydenis en ’n weet dat jy weet

11 In Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but by the [spiritual] circumcision of Christ in the stripping off of the body of the flesh [the sinful carnal nature], 12 having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God, [as displayed] when He raised Christ from the dead. Colossians 2:11-12 AMP

21 Corresponding to that [rescue through the flood], baptism [which is an expression of a believer’s new life in Christ] now saves, not by removing dirt from the body, but by an appeal to God for a good (clear) conscience, [demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21 AMP

3. Die doop is ’n getuienis van redding, die wegneem/was van sonde

38 And Peter said to them, “Repent [change your old way of thinking, turn from your sinful ways, accept and follow Jesus as the Messiah] and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ because of the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 AMP

4. Die doop is ’n “een word” en “aantrek” van Jesus

26 For you [who are born-again have been reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified and] are all children of God [set apart for His purpose with full rights and privileges] through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union with the Christ, the Anointed] have clothed yourselves with Christ [that is, you have taken on His characteristics and values].Galatians 3:26-27 AMP

Opsomming en Slot:

By die doop met water gebeur daar meer as net jou kop onder die water druk.

Ja, dit is ’n aksie van ’n besluit uit gehoorsaamheid en oortuiging voor getuies, maar daar is ook iets “masive” wat binne jou tussen jou en God gebeur.

• Dis ’n sterf vir self (aflê van jou eie wil)
• Dis ’n besnydenis van my hart
• Dis ’n opstaan “saam met” en “in” Jesus
• Dis ’n uittrek van jou sondige natuur
• Dis ’n aantrek van Jesus se natuur
• Dis ’n nuwe skepping status aanneem
• Dis ’n nuwe verbintenis (een word) met Jesus en ons met jou Hemelse Vader
• Dis die wete dat ek geregverdig en skoon voor God staan, onskuldig (in Jesus) met ’n skoongewaste gewete
• Dis die wete dat ek skoongewas is deur Jesus se bloed

Ek lewe nie meer nie, maar Christus in my. Ek is nuut gemaak en ek is met Jesus geklee.
